TOI had reported in these columns about the out of the ordinary act of the six-member gang, comprising a man and five women, when they returned the stolen booty of five saris worth 2 lakh to Teja Sarees Boutique owner, Naga Teja Pavuluri, in Nanakramguda on Saturday.
After the boutique owner uploaded CCTV footage of the accused committing theft, a woman gang member contacted her, requesting for the removal of the videos as their children might come to know about their ‘one-time mistake'. As promised, the gang members had dropped the stolen saris with a security guard near the boutique immediately after the phone call. As boutique owner had also uploaded another CCTV footage of the gang from the shop of her weaver partner in Shirdi on March 9, the accused returned 7 lakh worth saris stolen from the shops in Shirdi and Aurangabad on Monday.
“Today, we helped one of our weavers to get back their saris worth 7 lakh from the same gang, who shoplifted from stores in Aurangabad and Shirdi on March 9. We feel happy to share (with) you that we helped our fellow buddy,” Teja Sarees posted on their social media account on Monday, adding that they were receiving a lot of messages from weavers and stores who were targeted by the gang. The store owner thinks that the gang members, who follow the activities of various boutiques on social media, have been selling the stolen saris to a buyer in Vijayawada. “I would request all of you to come together so that we could file a complaint to get them arrested," Naga Teja said.
Meanwhile, Cyberabad police said that they were also tracking the whereabouts of the inter-state gang.
