HYDERABAD: A woman from Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh, who went to Bahrain to work as a housemaid has alleged she is being physically tortured.

The woman, identified as Paka Sirisha shared several videos with her sister, Majji Devi, detailing her distressing situation.

On November 3, Majji Devi wrote to the Embassy of India in Bahrain, requesting assistance for her sister. She also contacted the Pravasi Legal Cell, Bahrain chapter, seeking their help in rescuing Sirisha.

Majji Devi stated that Sirisha went to Bahrain on March 5, 2024. "She is being tortured at her workplace," she said, pleading that Sirisha be rescued.

In the videos sent to her sister, Sirisha claimed she was being starved, deprived of sleep, and overloaded with work. She described instances of physical abuse and expressed that the situation had become unbearable.

With tears in her eyes, Sirisha recounted the torture she faced and mentioned being threatened with dire consequences if she complained about her situation.

TR Sriniwas, a BJP leader from Telangana, learned of the case and approached the authorities for help. He informed the Embassy of India in Bahrain about Sirisha's severe distress and urged them to intervene and provide assistance.
