TRS leader
’s son and five of his friends for assaulting a toll plaza supervisor on Monday night.

. His mother M Lasmi Prasanna is the corporator of BN Reddy Nagar. His friends who were allegedly involved in the assault include
Arun Kumar Reddy
, Nishit, Sai Teja Reddy, Sai Kuamar and Anirudh from LB Nagar.
The youngsters, who are in their early twenties, went to Rammohan Goud’s function hall at Maisigandi area of Kadthal in Tata Xenon (AP 29 BR 0888) to celebrate the birthday of Sai Teja Reddy.
After the party, they started the return journey to Hyderabad at around 9 pm and reached Kadthal toll plaza on national highway 765.
At the toll plaza, instead of taking the regular lanes, the youngsters decided to go through the barricaded lane. When one of the youths was trying to remove the barricade to pass through the lane, toll booth supervisor M Mahesh tried to stop it and an argument broke out between the two.
“The youngsters in the vehicle thrashed Mahesh but the toll booth supervisor did not back off. He continued to stand his ground and asked the youngsters to pay the toll and go through the lanes used by other motorists,” Kadthal SI G Srikanth said.
Manish was driving the Xenon and when the supervisor did not back off even after the assault, Arun Kumar Reddy pulled a folding knife from his pocket and attacked Mahesh.
“Arun attacked twice with the knife. Mahesh suffered a bleeding injury on his left elbow and a cut on the right palm while trying to defend himself,” the SI said.
Meanwhile, the other toll plaza staff came in support of Mahesh and the assailants started escaping from the spot in the vehicle. The toll plaza staff alerted Kadthal police about the assault at 9.17 pm and the route to city on the highway was barricaded by the cops. At 9.20 pm, police intercepted the Xenon vehicle and took the six youths into custody.
“We have registered an attempt to murder case against the six offenders under section 307 of the IPC and their blood samples were also collected to check if they were drunk at the time of the assault. The accused were produced before the court on Tuesday and remanded in judicial custody,” Shadnagar ACP S Srinivas said.
