Hyderabad teen beaten by principal & father for malpractice, dies by suicide

HYDERABAD: A 14-year-old boy, Gadipally Manoj, died by suicide after being allegedly beaten by his father and principal for taking a cellphone to cheat in an exam at Sabhash Gudem village in Siddipet district on Friday.

"The class 8 boy was first caught by the principal and beaten for resorting to malpractice, after which the boy's father too joined and punished him," said sub-inspector Raju of Komuravelli police station in Siddipet.

In the evening, the father, Gadipally Narsimulu, found his son missing and later found him hanging.

The father claimed that he had nothing to do with his son's death, while the police suspect that the boy might have resorted to the drastic step, unable to tolerate the humiliation of being beaten in front of his classmates.
