. Karkhana police on Monday booked Suresh Babu and asked him to appear before the investigation officer (IO). However, cops ruled out that Suresh Babu was drunk at the time of the accident.

N Satish Chandra, 35, a private firm employee from Lalaguda, suffered a fracture on his leg, his wife Durga Devi, 30, and son Siddesh Chandra suffered head injuries. Stating that the victims are out of danger, Karkhana inspector P Madhukar Swamy pointed out that the front right tyre of Honda CRV burst, leading to the mishap at 10.30pm on Sunday. "After the tyre burst, the car (TS 09 EX 2628) driven by Suresh Babu veered to the right hitting an oncoming scooter at Imperial Gardens function hall. The couple and their son riding the scooter (AP 28 CJ 8905) fell on the road and suffered injuries," Madhukar said.

Soon after the crash, air bags in the Honda CRV opened and a panicked Suresh Babu stopped the vehicle 100 metres away from the function hall. "We received an alert from the Police Control Room and our cops reached the spot and shifted the victims to a nearby hospital," the inspector said.

Suresh Babu was brought to the police station where he was subjected to a breath analyser test. The reading showed 0 mg/100 ml indicating that he was not under the influence of alcohol. Suresh told cops that he was driving from Paradise junction towards Bowenpally market when the accident occurred.
