NEW DELHI: A section of stucco work from Hyderabad’s historic Charminar collapsed following heavy rain on Thursday, officials from the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) confirmed. The damaged stucco, located on the second level of one of the monument’s minarets, fell without causing any injuries, ASI sources said. Officials described the fallen piece as a decorative element atop a stone structure, noting that the material is inherently fragile.

"It's not significant damage," authorities assured, attributing the incident to the impact of heavy rainfall.

Following the collapse, the affected area was inspected, and a team of experts, including engineers, is set to determine the necessary restoration measures on Friday morning. The heavy rain also led to waterlogging in several parts of the city. Charminar, an iconic structure, was built in 1591 by Sultan Mohammed Quli Qutb Shah.
