Massive security arrangements in place

Hyderabad: With two days of hectic activity, including Ganesh immersion, city police have been on their toes. On Monday, police had to provide bandobust for Milad-Un-Nabi processions taken out in various parts of the city. Apart from this, they had to provide parallel security to processions taken out for immersion of Ganesh idols. Cops worked 12-hour shifts on Monday as opposed to their usual 10-hour shifts.On Tuesday, apart from the massive Ganesh bandobust, security arrangements have to be made for two important govt programmes: Telangana Liberation Day, organised by the Central govt at Parade Grounds; and Praja Palana Dinotsavam, a state govt event, to be held at Public Gardens. When these two events are in progress, police will have the all-important task of shifting Khairathabad Ganesh for immersion in Hussainsagar."There will be 25,000 policemen to manage the bandobust of immersion on Tuesday. Some of them will be used at the two govt programmes. It will be a huge challenge to keep the forces motivated. Apart from the Telangana police, forces are being drawn from other resources too," an officer from Hyderabad police said.Policemen in Hyderabad will face the toughest challenge as the city is the epicentre for all activities on Tuesday. On Monday, chief minister A Revanth Reddy held a security review at I-CCC about planned bandobust arrangements.
