HYDERABAD: Mahesh Soni, a goldsmith from Jambagh Road who was present at Mahadev Jewellers when the robbers barged inside the shop on Thursday night, said that the entire thing was over in two minutes.

Soni said that he ran out before robbers pulled down the shutter. Soni is still in police custody as he is an eyewitness. A native of Rajasthan, Soni said he repaired jewellery for shops in the city and Kalyan was one client.

"Kalyan had some repairs and I arrived at the shop from Vanasthalipuram. There were a few customers and Ganapati Jewellers owner Rajkumar and his employee Sukhram when I entered the shop," Soni told TOI.

"As soon as the customers left, two men entered pointing a gun. When I ran out, one of them tried to stop me but allowed me to leave when I said I did not have any valuables. They pulled shutter down and I heard gunshots. The robbers then ran out with a bag. I noticed Kalyan and Sukhram were injured," Soni said, adding that he later called Kalyan's family.
