Hyderabad man who slit woman’s throat after learning of her engagement dies after mob assault

HYDERABAD: Hyderabad man Teja (28), the accused in the murder of 22-year-old Vaishnavi in Jadcherla, died while undergoing treatment after he was assaulted by local residents following the attack.

According to police, Teja allegedly murdered Vaishnavi, a resident of Jadcherla town in Mahabubnagar district, by slitting her throat on Saturday.

Investigators said he had allegedly been harassing and pursuing her in the name of love for several months, but she had repeatedly rejected his advances.

Police said the accused allegedly became angry after learning that Vaishnavi’s engagement had recently been fixed. Investigators suspect this led him to carry out the attack.

The incident took place when Vaishnavi was returning home after getting down from a bus in Jadcherla. Teja allegedly attacked her with a knife in a public area, leaving her critically injured. She was shifted to a hospital for treatment but later died from her injuries.

Soon after the attack, local residents chased Teja, caught him, tied his hands, and allegedly assaulted him with stones. He sustained severe injuries in the assault and was admitted to a hospital, where he later died during treatment.

Police are continuing the investigation into both Vaishnavi’s murder and the mob assault that led to the accused’s death. Further legal action is being taken based on the ongoing probe.
