for the last three years suddenly went missing on July 16 last year. Both he and the driver of the company they worked for were reported missing while they were on work to deliver some articles at Al Qassim.

“I am relieved that my son has been found and is safe. We were worried for him,” Mohammed Abdul Waheed, father of Abdul Majeed said. The family were at a loss to understand how their son could have gone missing and it was only later they came to know from the driver who had also been released by the police some months ago that Abdul Majeed was still in the custody of the police.

wrote to external affairs minister S Jaishankar about Abdul Majeed. The Indian embassy in Riyadh which looked into the issue informed the family on October 11, 2020 that he was in police custody and that they were seeking consular access to meet him.

Abdul Majeed who called up his father on January 25 to inform him about his release said it was not clear to him why the police had picked him up.

According to Amjed Ullah Khan, the kafeel (employer) he was working for was helpful and cooperative and showed concern for Abdul Majeed. He also went and spoke to the police. He has also informed the family that he was willing to pay the salary of Abdul Majeed for the time he had to spend in jail and also offered to retain him in employment.

Mohammed Abdul Waheed thanked external affairs minister S Jaishankar and the Indian embassy in Riyadh and Amjed Ullah Khan for pursuing his release.
