Hyderabad: Housewife jumps from terrace after dowry harassment, dies

HYDERABAD: A 25-year-old housewife committed suicide, alleging dowry harassment, by jumping off the fifth-floor terrace of an apartment in Gachibowli.
The victim, Shesha Santosha Kumari, was a resident of Raghavendra Colony of Kondapur. She married Pandu Ranga Rao, a software employee, on February 15 this year.
According to police, Kumari’s in-laws harassed her by demanding dowry.

“On Wednesday evening, the couple went to the terrace of the building for an evening walk. While the husband returned to their flat, she insisted on staying on the terrace. A little while later, at around 6.30 p.m she jumped off the terrace,” said Gachibowli sub-inspector, Venkat Reddy.
Kumari, who sustained a severe head injury and other multiple injuries, died on the spot. Police found a suicide note near the body. Police booked a dowry death case.
