Hyderabad:The Hyderabad High Court on Friday stayed the bailable warrant issued against nominated
MLA Elvis Stephenson, who is a complainant in the cash-for-vote case. The warrant was issued by a single judge earlier.
The bench comprising Justice V Ramasubramanian and Justice Anis was dealing with a petition filed by Stephenson challenging the order of the single judge in issuing a warrant.
G Vidyasagar, senior counsel appearing for the petitioner, told the court that the petitioner had filed a petition before the single judge asking him to recuse from hearing of a quash petition filed by one Jerusalem Mathaiah, one of the accused in cash-for-vote scam.
Dismissing the recuse petition, the judge directed initiation of action under the Contempt of Court Act against Stephenson.
While staying the warrant, the bench issued the notices to the respondents and adjourned the hearing.
