HYDERABAD: State health minister Damodar Rajanarsimha held a meeting with corporate hospital representatives on Thursday at the secretariat to discuss implementation of the Clinical Establishment Act and develop Hyderabad as a medical tourism hub.

The owners of the corporate hospitals were instructed to take appropriate measures for effective implementation of the Clinical Establishment Act and avoid treating medicine as a business.

The minister also asked them to contribute their share as part of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to government hospitals.

About the plan of developing Hyderabad city as a medical tourism hub, the mini ster said that he will discuss the issue with CM Revanth Reddy about the various appeals made by the hospital owners and take appropriate policy decisions.

Meanwhile, owners and representatives of the corporate hospitals appealed to the minister to release the Arogyasree dues quickly.

The minister said that currently revision of rates for the treatments provided under the Arogyasree Health Care Trust is underway.

The minister also said that different committees will be appointed to increase the quality standards in govt and private hospitals.
