Hyderabad: Hyderabad faltered on the first day of their Ranji Trophy Elite Group B third round fixture against Baroda in Bhubaneswar on Thursday.
Hyderabad made wholesale changes to the side that lost to Bengal in the previous match. Akshath Reddy, Himalay Agarwal, Rahul Budhi, Mickil Jaiswal and C Rakshan Readdi were all left out.
But for Jaweed Ali, who scored 65 (90b, 4x12) and
Tanay Thyagarajan (51; 61b, 4x4, 6x2), Hyderabad would not have posted 197 that they managed.
Baroda wrested the initiative after putting the opposition in to finish the day at 92 for two — only 105 runs behind.
In Thiruvananthapuram Andhra pacers Bandaru Ayyappa and
Prithvi Raj scalped seven wickets to dismiss table-toppers Uttarakhand for 194 in the first innings in their Ranji Trophy Elite Group ‘E’ match here on Thursday. Electing to bat after winning the toss, Uttarakhand kept losing wickets at regular intervals and collapsed to 194 in 69.1 overs. While Ayyappa took four for 37, Prithvi snared three for 27 and did bulk of the damage.
