HYDERABAD: The driver of a private security agency, who was tasked with transporting cash to refill an ATM, fled with the vehicle in Kismatpur on Thursday. There was 31 lakh cash in the vehicle.

Police said that the driver, Farooq, along with three other staff reached the ATM centre on Thursday evening. As soon as his colleagues got down, the driver started the vehicle and fled with the cash.

However, after few hours, the vehicle was traced near Kismatpur Bridge. Police found that Farooq made away with 2 lakh, and 29 lakh was recovered from the vehicle.

"The driver is missing and we are on a lookout for him. We have registered a case and investigation is being done," Rajendranagar inspector B Nagendra Babu said. Police feel the accused might have got scared and hence he abandoned the vehicle. They are verifying CCTV footage to analyse in which direction he had gone besides checking for his mobile phone tower location.
