Hyderabad: Blocks gone, but Banjara, Jubilee Hills want it back

HYDERABAD: This is one problem even cops didn’t foresee when they first placed

zones in Jubilee and Banjara Hills.


While

authorities

have reduced the number of Covid-19 containment zones from 180 to 110 after the mandatory two-three week period, residents in many localities want them back to surprise of cops and civic officials.

Some have urged the government to conduct a fever survey as outsiders are entering the colonies without any hitch.

After restrictions were lifted in Sheikhpet containment cluster, footfall in MLA colony, Filmnagar and Jubilee Hills Road No. 5 and NBT Nagar in Road No. 12 Banjara Hills increased. In Ambedkar colony (Filmnagar) and NBT Nagar barricading have resurfaced. “We barricaded localities to restrict crowd movement. But even after they were de-notified, people are asking us to barricade their locality again,” said K Sattaiah, circle inspector of Jubilee Hills police station.

While Filmnagar residents placed tree branches, residents of MLA colony and NBT colony persuaded cops to bring back barricades. “Recovered patients are still under quarantine. They shall remain indoors for 28 days.
