HYDERABAD: A cricket betting racket was busted late on Wednesday night after cops raided a house in Mansoorabad and arrested four, including organisers and punters.
Police seized 6 lakh from them, while another 10.7 lakh in the account of one of the accused was frozen. The accused were taking bets on the T20 World Cup first round match between West Indies and Zimbabwe.
On Wednesday night, sleuths of LB Nagar raided the house at plot number 1 in Sai Sapthagiri Colony, Mansoorabad, after a tip-off.
Police seized 6 lakh from sub-bookie M Bhaskar (35), accountant T Koteshwar Rao (30) and two punters G Rajesh Kumar (35) and K Srinivas. The main bookie, U Satish Raju, is absconding.
Police also wrote to ICICI bank and froze 10.7 lakh in account of Koteshwar Rao. The cops registered a case under the Gaming Act and produced the accused before court for judicial remand.
