HYDERABAD: The enforcement team of Prohibition and Excise Department has arrested five peddlers and seized 155 gram of hashish oil from their possession.

Acting on specific information, the enforcement team kept a watch on the movement of suspects at Bowenpally and seized hashish oil stored in 31 plastic bottles from the possession of A Ranjeeth Kumar, 25, of Neredmet, K Niteesh Kumar Yadav, 20, of Bowenpally, Ch Sai Kumar Reddy, 22, of Medchal, S Girish Kumar, 24, from Quthbullapur and Sanjay Sharma, 23, from Medchal.

The excise team also seized five cell phones, a scooter and a bike from the possession of the accused. During the interrogation, the accused confessed that they have been addicted to ganja and Hashish oil. "Initially they were consumers and later started selling the narcotic substances for profit," assistant excise superintendent, N Anji Reddy said.

The five accused also confessed that they had been procuring hashish oil from one Sai Reddy, 22, of Quthbullapur and S Vikram, 28, of Kukatpally.

"Saireddy and Vikram used to get jashish oil from Araku and sell the same to the five accused. The arrested accused have been purchasing five gram contraband bottles for Rs 1500 and selling the same for Rs 2,500 to customers at Suchitra, Bowenpally and Malkajgiri areas," Anji Reddy said.

The accused along with the seized material have been handed over to Secunderabad excise station for further investigation.
