Hyd man stranded at Dubai airport after passport theft
Hyderabad: A 24-year-old Hyderabad resident, Aamer Khan, has been stranded at the Dubai International Airport for over 36 hours after his passport was allegedly stolen during his journey, leaving him unable to clear immigration or return home.Khan, who travelled to Dubai on a two-month visit visa in search of employment, landed early on Monday at Dubai airport. His family said the passport, along with his boarding pass and educational documents, was kept in a bag he carried during the flight. "He assumed the passport was with him and fell asleep mid-flight. It was only when he reached the immigration counter that he realised it was missing," said his father, Aijaz Khan.

Aamer immediately alerted airport authorities and lodged a complaint. Since then, he made repeated visits to the airport's lost and found department, but without any breakthrough. His parents in Hyderabad said they have received no concrete update so far."We contacted the Indian Embassy in Dubai and also reported the issue on the MADAD platform. They assured us that the matter would be looked into. Later, we received a message saying temporary travel documents would be issued to enable his return to Hyderabad.
However, there has been no follow-up since Monday, and he remains stuck at the airport," Aijaz said. Politician Amjad Ullah Khan also took the issue to the social media platform X, urging the minister of external affairs S Jaishankar to extend support to the family."He has not been provided any accommodation. He has been eating and sleeping at the airport for the past two days. As he is unable to enter the country, his two-month visa also went to waste, and we now have to bear the cost of an additional return ticket. He went there hoping to find work. Instead, he is stranded, exhausted, and unsure of when he can come back," his father added.
