Huzurnagar bypolls: TJS to support Congress candidate
HYDERABAD: The Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) has decided to extend its support to the Congress party in
“TJS will intensify its fight against the dictatorial rule of the TRS. It has become essential to go to the people with more determination and vigour and expose how TRS is misusing government machinery, particularly police to suppress the opposition,” said Kodandaram.
Stating that the K Chandrasekher Rao-led government has betrayed the youth by failing to fulfil its promise of providing government jobs and dole out unemployment allowance, Kodandaram also found fault with the CPI for extending support to the ruling TRS.

He also urged CPM and Telangana Inti Party leaders whose candidates’ nominations were rejected to campaign for the Congress candidate N Padmavathi Reddy. It may be mentioned that the Congress has got the support of only one of its ally i.e. TJS for the Huzurnagar by-election. Among its’ two other allies, the TDP has fielded its own candidate Kiranmayi as mentioned, while the CPI is supporting the ruling TRS.
Responding to TRS working President KT Rama Rao’s comment that Congress party was a ‘sinking ship’, Uttam Kumar Reddy said, “Congress is not a ship but an ocean and its bottom has a bulk of sunken tiny boats like TRS. Only rats desert a sinking ship while brave sailors fight with the situation to block the holes. KTR neither understands philosophy nor politics. He cannot influence Huzurnagar voters with hollow words and obsolete slogans.”
Congress-TDP-CPI and TJS had formed a grand alliance named ‘Praja Kutami’ and fought the December 2018 Assembly elections under its banner. Thereafter, this alliance was continued in 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
TPCC treasurer Gudur Narayana Reddy also thanked the TJS for extending its support to Congress party. He said, “Though Huzurnagar by-elections are being fought in a constituency, it would change the entire political course in Telangana. KCR has tried to ransack democratic structure by engineering defections from opposition parties.”
Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, leader of opposition and Congress floor leader in Telangana Assembly said, “The by-election in Huzurnagar is a contest between dictatorship and democracy. It is crucial to defeat KCR who has become dangerous to democracy.”
