HYDERABAD: A 27-year-old housewife was murdered at her house in Street No 3 of HMT Nagar in Nacharam on Monday night.
The victim was identified as Ch Manjula, a native of Piduguralla in Guntur district. In 2010, she had married Karunakar, a chemical scientist in AMRI Global Company located at Genome valley in Shamirpet.
The incident came to light at 7 pm when Karunakar returned home from office.
On entering the house, he found Majula lying dead on the bed. A panicked Karunakar immediately rushed to his neighbours, who alerted police. “The assailants killed Manjula by slitting her throat with a sharp weapon,” Nacharam inspector M Srinivasa Rao said. Police said the mangalasutra and two gold bangles of the victim were missing. Clues team was called to the spot and fingerprints were collected by the experts. Sniffer dogs came out of the building and stopped on the road. “When the incident happened, the house owners were not at home. Hence, no one saw the assailants,” the inspector said.
Karunakar went to office at 7 am and when he routinely called Manjula at 6 pm she did not answer his call. As she was not answering his calls, Karunakar called on the cell phone of his house owner, Madhusudhan and his wife Sharada. The owners told Karunakar that they were not at home. As Manjula was not taking calls, Karunakar came home at 7 pm and found the maindoor open. On entering the house, he found Manjula lying dead.
Police are probing into various angles, including armed robbery, and the possible involvement of people known to the victim.
