Horticulture dept official trapped by ACB

Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) investigators on Saturday trapped a junior assistant with the horticulture department, Division-I, Indira Park, at her office while she was allegedly accepting Rs 25,000 bribe for issuing a cheque to the kin of a deceased employee.

HYDERABAD: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) investigators on Saturday trapped a junior assistant with the horticulture department, Division-I, Indira Park, at her office while she was allegedly accepting Rs 25,000 bribe for issuing a cheque to the kin of a deceased employee.
"T Vijayalaxmi took the bribe for issuing a cheque of Rs 2,79,348 pertaining to the benefits of deceased employee B Narasimha to the complainant, who is the paternal uncle and legal guardian of the minor son of the employee," ACB deputy superintendent of police, Hyderabad City Range-II, KSN Murthy told STOI.

"She had been pestering the complainant to pay the amount. Unable to bear the pressure, he approached us. We caught the junior assistant red-handed while accepting the money at around 1.20 pm and recovered the tainted amount from her table drawer. Searches were also conducted at her residence in Nagole," he said.
The junior assistant was arrested and produced before the additional special judge for SPE & ACB cases, Hyderabad.
