Honeytrap scam: Hyderabad youth loses Rs 1 lakh; lured by fake profiles, threatened for extra payment
A 20-year-old man from Yakutpura fell victim to a Telegram honeytrap scam, losing Rs 1 lakh. The fraudster, posing as a sex worker, extracted multiple payments for fake booking, security, and reservation charges. After the victim paid, he was left waiting at a hotel and threatened for more money, leading him to report the incident to cyber crime police.

When asked to visit a hotel, the victim was left waiting and was threatened to pay an additional Rs 10,000. Realising he had been scammed, the victim lodged a complaint with the Hyderabad cyber crime police station.
