Homeguard killed girl for spurning love

HYDERABAD: A day after the murder of salesgirl Venkata Lakshmi, her family and friends held a rally with her body at Yousufguda, demanding the immediate arrest of her killer, homeguard M Sagar.
Although, police had already arrested the accused on Monday.
The accused, working at the house of a superintendant of police in Madhura Nagar as a driver, slit Venkata Lakshmi's throat and strangled her to death at her workplace in Jawaharnagar, Yousufguda on Monday afternoon.Police suspect Sagar killed the victim as he didn't want her to be with any other man. Sagar met the victim about three years ago in Madhura Nagar where she used to work earlier. Two years ago, Venkata Lakshmi's family had asked Sagar to stop harassing the woman.
However, Sagar continued to harass the victim despite the family members of the officer warning him to mend his ways.
After the postmortem, Venkata Lakshmi's body was handed over to family on Tuesday and her final rites were performed at Erragadda grave yard while the family members held placards demanding the arrest of the accused.
