HYDERABAD: In yet another suspected case of gang war, a history-sheeter was brutally murdered in broad daylight at Picket on Monday morning. The rival gangs were gunning for each other’s head for domination in Marredpally.
Police said A S Raju, 55, a history-sheeter, along with his wife, was returning home from a temple when he was stabbed to death.

Raju was a resident of Sanjeevaiah Nagar in West Marredpally.
Police said Raju was reportedly having differences with another history-sheeter of the same locality, Golla Kittu. Raju was an associate of Lambu Raju, another history-sheeter of the area, whose gang was reportedly engaged in a war of domination with Kittu.
Three years back, Lambu Raju was waylaid and eliminated by Kittu. After his death, Raju started dealing with land settlements in the area. He would reportedly get government-sponsored houses on ‘benami’ names and sell them for huge profits.
Kittu started demanding a share in Raju’s dealings. This developed animosity between the two groups, police said. Sensing that Kittu might eliminate him to gain an upper hand in the area, Raju made a vain bid on Kittu’s life several times. Three months back, Raju allegedly hired a former naxalite gang to eliminate Kittu. He also procured fire arms for them for the purpose. Kittu was attacked near his house but he managed to escape with injuries, police said. Since then, Kittu has been trying to eliminate Raju.
On Monday morning, Raju, along with his wife Suguna, was returning from a temple when he was attacked near Gandhian School. Kittu’s seven associates attacked Raju with daggers inflicting 17 stabs on him. Raju died instantly. They did not harm his wife. Suguna lodged a complaint with police and identified the culprits as Kittu and his men. Kittu and his men are absconding. Police recovered two daggers from the spot.
