High court stays Gali Janardhan Reddy’s bail

HYDERABAD: Justice B Chandra Kumar of the A P high court on Wednesday stayed the bail granted to Gali Janardhan Reddy, the prime accused in the illegal mining case. The judge allowed the petition filed by the CBI which pointed out that the case of the illegal mining was still under investigation. CBI argued that the accused was very powerful person and he may influence the witnesses and would seriously hamper the further investigation in the matter.

The judge specifically pointed out that the accused was a minister in the neighbouring state of Karnataka during the period of commission of the alleged offences.
The judge also rejected the bail petition filed by B P Acharya, senior IAS officer. The application followed by the rejection of the bail petition filed by him before the special court dealing with the Emaar scam case.
In another case, the specially constituted bench of Justice B. Chandra Kumar and Justice KG Shanker on Wednesday adjourned the case to next week in which state government appealed questioning the order of a single judge who last week suspended the government order banning advertisement to the Saakshi group of media platforms. The government had issued an order banning advertisements to Saakshi group.
