HYDERABAD: Justice Nooty Rammohan Rao of the AP High Court on Thursday directed the state government and police to submit by Monday the status of the investigations into the criminal cases registered against former minister Danam Nagender by different police stations in the city. The judge was responding to a writ petition filed by advocate A Thirupathi Varma who questioned the 'inaction' of the police in dealing with four cases under various sections of the IPC registered against Nagendar by the police stations of Banjara Hills and Tukaram Gate three years ago.

He said that the cases pending against the Congress leader included physical attacks on police officers.
According to Gandra Mohan Rao, counsel for the petitioner, the crimes mentioned in the FIRs were non-bailable and committed while the accused was a cabinet minister. Except for registration of FIRs, no further action was taken to investigate these cases and bring the accused to book, the petitioner said. He urged the court to seek the current status of these FIRs. The judge then sought to know the progress made by the police after registration of these cases and posted the case to Monday.
