The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) standing committee has decided to extend financial assistance to owners of heritage structures for taking up repairs and renovation of the buildings.

HYDERABAD: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) standing committee has decided to extend financial assistance to owners of heritage structures for taking up repairs and renovation of the buildings.
The standing committee meeting was held under the chairmanship of mayor Mohd Majid Hussain on Thursday. The heritage building owners get a waiver of 75% on property tax.

Apart from this, the owners get either 20% of estimated cost for carrying out repairs or Rs 25 lakh, whichever is less as financial assistance for conservation of the heritage buildings.
The meeting also approved preparation of a plan for fire hazard response and mitigation for the Million Plus City, Hyderabad, for the year 2013-14 which would be submitted to the government.
