Heavy rain lashes Hyderabad, yellow alert issued for north Telangana

HYDERABAD: The city experienced heavy rains during the early hours of Friday morning, with MCRHRD campus in Jubilee Hills recording a rainfall of 70.3mm.

Banjara hills also recorded 67.3mm rainfall. The sharp short spell began at around 1am and lasted up to 3am, covering the entire city.

Not much disruption has been reported from the people owing to rain; however, according to official data from the Disaster Relief Force (DRF), nearly 35 complaints were received over the course of the rainfall. Of these, 29 were related to water stagnation, and three were regarding fallen trees.

Heavy rains occurred in the northern and eastern districts of Telangana with Parvathgiri in Warangal recording 141.3mm downpour.

The India Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for north Telangana districts.
