HYDERABAD: Telangana revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy on Saturday said 16 people have died due to severe heatwave conditions across the state during the ongoing summer season.
Reviewing the heatwave situation with officials, the minister said the deaths were reported from seven districts, based on reports submitted by district Collectors.
According to the data shared by the government, four deaths were reported in Jayashankar Bhupalpally, while three deaths each occurred in Warangal Urban, Karimnagar and Nizamabad. One death each was reported from Jogulamba Gadwal, Ranga Reddy and Suryapet.
The minister said the state government would provide an ex-gratia payment of ₹4 lakh each to the families of those who died due to the heatwave, according to an official release.
