HC seeks govt response over plea for FIR against Teenmar Mallana
Hyderabad: The Telangana high court on Friday directed the state govt and the police to convey their stand on a petition seeking an FIR against MLC and Congress leader Chintapandu Naveen Kumar, popularly known as Teenmar Mallanna, for his alleged derogatory comments on a community.
K Aravind Reddy, a law student from Siddipet, filed the writ petition in the high court alleging that the district police was not registering an FIR on his complaint against Mallanna for his alleged defamatory comments against the Reddy community during a recent meeting in Warangal.
Reddy's counsel said that despite submitting evidence along with the complaint on Feb 3, Siddipet I Town police station did not take any action. He said inaction of police indicated political pressure and bias, denying justice to the community that was insulted. He also said that not registering an FIR violated Supreme Court guidelines.
