HC gives state time till Aug 23 on filling posts of T info panel
Hyderabad: The Telangana high court on Wednesday expressed its displeasure over the inordinate delay in making functional the State Information Commission.
A bench of Chief Justice Ujjal Bhuyan and Justice N Tukaramji, however, acceded to the request of advocate general BS Prasad to give them time till August 23 to brief the progress made in making the appointments.

The AG explained that the state has given a notification seeking applications from the eligible persons for filling the information commissioner posts and they would be filled soon. The bench was hearing a PIL filed by M Padmanabha Reddy of Forum For Good Governance that questioned the inaction of the state.
“There is no chief information commissioner and all the six commissioner posts are also vacant for the last three years,” senior counsel S Satyam Reddy said. The bench, while noting down the assurance given by the AG, however said that the citizens would have no remedy if they want any information in the meantime. The case would come up again on August 23.
