HC admits PIL on KBR, issues notices to GHMC

HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad high court on Tuesday admitted two petitions that challenged the proposed tree felling in the KBR park to pave way for the state's ambitious strategic road development programme (SRDP) and the SRDP itself separately.

While the former was filed by senior journalist

Kingshuk Nag

, whose letter to the high court was con verted into a public interest petition by the court itself, the latter was filed by envi ronment activist

Purushottam Reddy

.

The bench of Acting Chief Justice

Ramesh Ranganathan

and Justice A

Shankar Narayana

also gave notices to the state of Telangana, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority, forest department and other officials asking them to file their counters within two weeks. The court posted the case for two weeks later.
