The gift is, however, conditional. Teachers who take more interest in the studies of students and see that at least 20 of their students get 10 CGPA in SSC exams will be given the reward. For students, who secure the perfect score, he has promised to reward them with Rs 25,000 each. “The gifts will be given to you on my personal behalf,” Harish Rao told the students during a visit to the school on Wednesday as part of his on-going tour of Medak, Siddipet and Sangareddy.

Teachers were overjoyed at the announcement. “This is a great encouragement for us. We are proud to be working in the school,” said P Laxma Reddy, a teacher. He put up a comment on the minister’s FB.

On Thursday, the minister’s visit to Sangareddy also aroused political interest. Harish Rao’s bitter critic Thurupu Jayaprakash Reddy met the minister at Zilla Parishad meeting and garlanded and felicitated Harish Rao. It may be recalled that during the run-up to the 2018 Assembly polls, Harish Rao had devoted much time to Sangareddy to ensure the win of TRS candidate Chinta Prabhakar. Jayaprakash Reddy had been with TRS and later joined Congress. He turned CM K Chandrasekhar Rao’s bitter critic, throwing challenges at him. Jayaprakash Reddy was also arrested before the elections in an alleged human trafficking case.

Harish Rao was particularly targeted by Jayaprakash Reddy, alleging that he was responsible for Sangareddy not getting enough Manjira water. In what was seen as a bid to get into the good books of KCR, Jayaprakash Reddy appreciated the CM while being critical of Harish Rao. This was at a time when the talk was that Harish Rao had fallen from grace and therefore was not inducted into the cabinet by KCR after TRS returned to power for the second time. Jayaprakash Reddy appreciating KCR was also seen as an attempt by him to join TRS.
