V Hanumantha Rao, who had a chance meeting with Prime Minister
Narendra Modi in Parliament on Monday, urged the latter to implement the long-pending demand of the BC community to remove the creamy layer from the reservations ambit.
He also urged the PM to set up a Union BC welfare ministry and take up the caste census. Rao, who attended a national-level conference of other BCs in Delhi, had gone to meet AICC in charge of Telangana and MP Manickam Tagore in Parliament.
When the PM came across, the two had a brief chat during which he urged Modi to look into the BC welfare issue.
“It was a chance meeting with PM Modi. I took up the issue of BC welfare,” Rao told TOI. TNN
