Aneeshwar Kunchala, who was invited by UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak at the ‘Coronation Big Lunch’, urged world leaders to involve children in policy making for safeguarding environment and preserving nature.

“They responded positively,” Aneeshwar told TOI on Monday from his Manchester home. He also told Prime minister Rishi Sunak that he would like to attend the 2023 Conference of Parties (COP-28) in Dubai and also called the United National Climate Change Conference between November 30 and December 12.

“It’s important to involve children in policy making and implementation,” he said. Aneeshwar also met Jill Biden, wife of US President, and expressed his desire to visit the White House and discuss climate change and wildlife protection. “She confirmed she would like to take the idea forward,” Aneeshwar told TOI.

Since the age of four, Aneeshwar displayed interest in wildlife preservation and has even addressed Senators in Capitol Hill. Aneeshwar’s father, Anil Kunchala, a programme manager with a company, hails from Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh. His mother, Sneha Valmeti, a principal automation engineer from Nellore grew up and studied in Hyderabad, before moving to the UK.

Aneeshwar’s father migrated to the UK 16 years ago and has backed his son’s interest in nature. “Aneesh can identify 500 species of animals, birds and plants. That is his level of interest,” Anil Kunchala said.
