Govt firm on making farming profitable, says Revanth

Hyderabad: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy said the govt is committed to the welfare of the farming community in the state, aiming to make farmers 'kings' by promoting agriculture as a lucrative profession.Participating in ‘Sri Parabhava Nama' Ugadi celebrations on Thursday, the chief minister stated that the new Telugu year is being dedicated to the farmers' welfare. He said the govt is moving forward with an objective of transforming agriculture into a profitable occupation, thereby elevating farmers to the status of ‘kings'.Stating that the govt is providing a bonus in addition to the remunerative price, the CM said that Rythu Bharosa funds would be released and deposited into farmers' accounts on March 22. "The govt has already spent Rs 18,000 crore on Rythu Bharosa. To provide relief to debt-ridden farmers, the govt waived farm loans up to Rs 2 lakh. It is also a matter of pride for us that Telangana is the only state with the lowest debt burden on farmers in the entire country. Nearly 70% of families in Telangana are dependent on agriculture," he said.Revanth stated that the Bhu Bharati portal was introduced to resolve land ownership issues by replacing Dharani, which had caused several problems for farmers in owning their lands. The govt is moving ahead with the goal of positioning Telangana as a frontrunner among all states in the country, he added.In light of increasing concerns over natural calamities, the CM said the govt remains constantly vigilant. On the auspicious occasion of Ugadi, he prayed for the people of Telangana to prosper in peace and be protected from natural disasters.
