HYDERABAD: Corporators of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation are giving jitters to the three major parties - BRS,
Congress and BJP - in the November 30 elections.
While some corporators are unhappy with their party leadership, some are quitting the party as they failed to get the tickets from various assembly constituencies.
Since corporators play an important role in their GHMC divisions, other parties are luring them by offering them posts.
The latest is AS Rao Nagar Congress corporator Singireddy Sirisha Reddy, who decided to quit the party on Saturday as her husband Somasekhar Reddy is unlikely to be considered for the party ticket from Uppal constituency.
Sources close to the couple said they have not decided which party to join even as BRS is trying to lure the corporator to join its ranks. Interestingly, Congress is reportedly considering another corporator's husband Parameshwar Reddy for the Uppal seat.
BRS corporator-couple from Madhapur and Hafeezpet, V Jagadishwar Goud and his wife Pujitha Goud, have decided to quit the party and join the Congress. There is a strong buzz that the Congress party has offered Serilingampally assembly ticket to Goud. The Madhapur corporator tried to contest from Serilingampally segment in 2018 also, but the BRS had denied the ticket.
This time too, he failed to get ticket as the BRS gave the ticket to sitting BRS MLA Arikepudi Gandhi. As he is unhappy with the party, the BRS made him party floor leader in GHMC a week ago. Since the Congress offered the assembly ticket, he had decided to resign from the BRS.
A couple of weeks ago, Bagh Amberpet BJP corporator Padma
Venkat Reddy along with her husband B Venkat Reddy joined the BRS. Venkat Reddy was an aspirant for party ticket from Amberpet assembly segment. But with BJP state chief G Kishan Reddy likely to contest, he quit the saffron party.
Khairatabad corporator Vijaya Reddy had switched loyalties to Congress in December last year, hoping to get a ticket from Khairatabad. Her father. former minister P Janardhan Reddy had represented Khairatabad seat.
