HYDERABAD: A school teacher suffered severe burn injuries in a domestic gas cylinder leakage incident at her house in Neredmet on Thursday.
The victim, Priya Kannan, 30, works at a private school in Neredmet.
At about 7.30 am, when domestic help Sammakka entered Priya's house, she alerted the latter about possible gas leakage.
Priya immediately rushed to the kitchen and opened the door.
"The kitchen was filled with gas. As Priya switched on the light, the electric spark lit up the butane causing severe burn injuries to her," Neredmet inspector K Venkat Reddy said.
The property in the house got partially damaged in the incident. However, Priya's husband Rajesh and domestic help Sammakka did not suffer any injuries.
Priya is undergoing treatment at a nearby private hospital and her condition is said to be stable.
