Gadwal Vijayalakshmi of TRS elected Hyderabad mayor

corporator, Gadwal Vijayalakshmi who is the daughter of TRS MP Keshav Rao, has been elected as city mayor and Mothe Sri Latha Reddy, Tarnaka ward corporator, has been elected as deputy mayor.

Apart from ex-officio members, a total of 149 corporators participated in the meeting. TRS party proposed one name mayor and deputy mayor posts each.

BJP had also fielded Radha Krishna (corporator from

RK Puram

ward) as its mayor candidate but she got only 48 votes.

The election was held by show of hands. After counting of votes, Hyderabad district collector Sweta Mohanty, who was the presiding officer for the mayoral election for

Greater Hyderabad

, declared the winner after counting the votes.

TRS leader Kavita, MP Santosh, Ahmed Balala, Aminul Jari from AIMIM and Goshmamahal legislator T Raja Sing are some of the ex-officio members who participated in the voting process.
