Four students among 11 arrested in PG medical scam

HYDERABAD: Crime Investigation Department (CID) sleuths arrested 11 more persons, including four students, in the PG Medical Entrance Test (APPGMET - 2014) scam on Monday and confirmed that the question paper was leaked from Manipal Printing Technologies Ltd, a government printing press in Manipal.

Earlier, the CID had arrested two brokers, K Muneeshwar Reddy and D Sainath, along with seven candidates, who had benefited from the leaked question paper. All these accused are in judicial remand.
According to CID, Bhushan Reddy, a native of Proddutur, had started 'Balaji Career Solutions' at Lakdikapul in 2011. As part of his work, Bhushan developed contacts with V Suresh of Bangalore, Anuj Singh of Mumbai, Dhanunjaya Kumar Chouhan of Bihar, K Muneeshwar Reddy of Kadapa and D Sainath of Hyderabad, who are also in the same field.
With the assistance of one Ameer Ahmed of Davanagere in Karnataka, the group of brokers obtained a copy of the PGMET-2014 question paper and sold it to aspirants for hefty amounts. One K E Vijaya Kumar Goud and Ch Gurvi Reddy, who agreed to pay the money, were tutoured by the gang. Gurvi Reddy has already been arrested.
Paulson and Ameer Ahmed started an Educational Consultancy at their native town of Davanagere along with Anuj Singh of Mumbai. In this process, Paulson came into contact with V Suresh, Anuj Singh, Kistappa of Gunthakal and Chakravarthy of Narsaraopet, who also run educational consultancies. Paulson is one of the key conspirators in getting the question paper leaked and through Kistappa and Chakravarthy, he sold the paper to Bharath Kumar, Ch Sai Praneeth and K Ramana. The gang tutoured the trio and they secured 7, 15, & 26 ranks respectively in the entrance test.

Vijay, a native of Bangalore, started an educational consultancy in Bangalore and joined the paper leak conspiracy along with Sivaprasad and Koushik of Bangalore and Paulson. Vijay leaked the question paper to candidates K Rama Rao, Sonia Arogya Prakshi and tutored them. The duo had secured ranks 14 and 23 respectively.
Abhimanyu and Patrik are the assistants of Anuj Singh and Ameer Ahmed. The duo played an active role in the scam by picking up candidates and arranging all facilities at the tutoring point.
CID has so far arrested nine brokers and 11 candidates in connection with the scam. "The main persons responsible for the leakage of question paper are likely to be arrested soon," a CID press release stated.
