Form ward committees: FGG to KTR

Hyderabad: Forum for Good Governance (FGG) secretary M Padmanabha Reddy wrote a letter to municipal administration and urban development minister KT Rama Rao to constitute ward committee across 150 divisions across GHMC limits. In the wake of the minister’s decision to create ward offices across the city, Reddy cited section 8-A and 8-B of GHMC Act 1955 and article 243 – S of Indian constitution which mandates the ward committees. “After the elections to GHMC, formation of Ward committees should have followed. Commissioner GHMC has submitted rules for constitution of Ward Committees, unfortunately since last 3 years no action has been taken to constitute ward committees,” Padmanabha Reddy’s letter reads.
