Hyderabad: A major fire broke out at the Larsen and Toubro (L&T) camp office and guest house near the Medigadda barrage in Ambatpally village of Mahadevpur mandal in Jayashankar Bhupalpally on Sunday afternoon, majorly destroying the temporary structure. However, officials denied any juries or casualties.
According to fire officials, the fire occurred around 3:30 pm when farmers in nearby agricultural fields allegedly set fire to crop waste and stubble.
District fire officer KV Satish Kumar said the guest house, built with iron sheds and temporary materials, consisted of around 10 rooms spread across a large area. “One side of the structure had already collapsed by the time we reached the spot. Farmers claimed that due to strong winds, the flames rapidly spread towards the guest house premises, engulfing the structure within minutes. Furniture, office materials and other property kept inside the building were extensively damaged in the fire,” he added.
He added that initial information from L&T officials indicated that some files and computers were destroyed, though they contained private company data unrelated to the Kaleshwaram project.
Fire officials said the exact extent of the losses would be assessed after the concerned authorities inspect the site. The fire was completely brought under control by 7:30 pm, although smoke continued to billow from the site for some time afterwards. Three fire vehicles were pressed into service to bring the flames under control.
