Fire breaks out in footwear godown at Bhoiguda, none injured

Hyderabad: Days after a Gulzar Houz fire accident that claimed 17 lives, another fire broke out in the Old City, this time in a footwear godown located in a multi-storied building at Bhoiguda, Chatrinaka, on Tuesday evening. However, no injuries or casualties were reported, fire officials said.According to officials, the fire started on the second floor of the building and later spread to the terrace. "We received an emergency call from the control room at 3:12 pm and reached the spot within six minutes. It is a G+2 structure, and the second floor was being used as a godown to store old footwear, where the smoke originated. The cause of the fire is under investigation," an official from the Chandrayangutta fire station told TOI.Two fire tenders were rushed to the spot from Chandrayangutta and Moghalpura fire stations. "The fire was extinguished within 15 to 20 minutes," the official added.As a precautionary measure, police personnel evacuated residents from the first floor of the building as well as from the adjacent structure. The building houses an electrical shop on the ground floor, which was closed at the time of the incident. The Chatrinaka police are investigating the case. "All the stored footwear was completely gutted, and the total loss is yet to be estimated," said a senior officer.
