“The demand for short-haul international destinations such as Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand have gone up by 26 per cent compared to the same period last year, while the demand for domestic destinations have gone up by 35 per cent.This is even better than what we witness during summer holidays,“ said Karan Anand of Cox & Kings, adding that a few travellers are also signing up for more elaborate itineraries and taking off to places like Egypt too. The affordable rates offered by airlines and tour operators has only boosted the demand, sources say .

“We are seeing a lot of travellers from Hyderabad heading to West Bengal and Odisha for Durga Puja. Multi-destination road trips by large families are also on the rise. Some of the most popular routes are Hassan-Hampi-Bijapur, Bangalore-Mysore-Coorg-Ooty , KochiAllepey-Munnar-Kodaikanal,“ Neelu Singh, CEO and director of Ezeego1. “There has been a 30 per cent increase in our bookings over last year. Lastminute bookings have surged with airlines introducing festive sale offers,“ she said.
