Father, two children drown in Godavari

GODAVARIKHANI: A man and his two children were swept away in the Godavari when they ventured into the waters for a holy dip here on Sunday.
Sadly, the father had got his two children to see the Science Express train stationed at Ramgundam railway station near here.
According to police, Suresh Joshi, 30, his son Tulasiram, 12, and daughter Preeti Joshi, 9, hailed from Kothuru Jenda area of Hanamkonda in Warangal district.They planned a trip to Godavarikhani to see the train and also take a holy dip in the river.
Sources said the two children first stepped into the water and slipped. Joshi immediately jumped in to save them. Unfortunately, he was also swept away by the strong current. Joshi's nephew Hemanth, who was with them, alerted others around. But by then the three had drowned. Their bodies were retrieved by local fishermen.
