Family donates organs of brain-dead youth

Hyderabad: The kin of V. Shravan Kumar, 21, a resident of Nalgonda district who was declared brain dead on Sunday while undergoing treatment at a corporate hospital, donated his organs to Jeevandan.

Sources said Shravan, an employee in private company in the city, met with an accident while crossing the road in Shameerpet on Saturday. Though he was taken to a local hospital and later on to Yashoda Hospital, Secunderabad for better treatment, he could not be revived and was declared brain dead.

His mother V Venkatmma readily gave consent to Jeevandan to harvest his kidney, liver and two corneas during grief counselling by Dr Mohd. Asifuddin, according to a release on Tuesday.
