HYDERABAD: With more than half the grievances aired during the ‘Face-to-Face’ programme conducted by the Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad coming from its surrounding municipalities, the authorities are chalking out a plan to conduct an exclusive weekly ‘Face-to-Face’ programme for the suburban residents.
Municipal administration regional director R Subramanyam said that permission has been obtained from MCH commissioner Chitra Ramachandran to use the facility available at MCH head office for conducting the ‘Face-to-Face’ programme which is aired on local TV channels.
Every week three municipalities will come together to conduct the programme. The complaints will be received on phone. Until now, complaints lodged by people from surrounding municipalities were passed on to the respective civic bodies and no follow-up action was taken up.
With the rapid growth of outer municipalities and rise in population, the facilities provided by the civic bodies are proving inadequate. Subramanyam said numerous problems were being highlighted through the ‘Face-to-Face’ programme and people could personally lodged their complaints to the municipal commissioner or its chairperson.
However, he said local TV channels were not keen on airing the programme of surrounding municipalities. “Unless the programme is aired on TV channels there will not be proper response, Subramanyam said.
The municipalities which abut the city are L B Nagar, Kukatpally, Malkajgiri, Kapra, Uppal Kalan, Qutubullapur, Alwal, Rajendranagar, Seringampally and Gaddiannaram.
