Addressing the pradesh and district committee office bearers and presidents through an app along with CLP leader

and AICC secretary S A Sampath Kumar, Uttam said national flag should be hoisted at party offices in all the districts as part of celebrating the state formation day by following all Covid-19 precautionary guidelines.

The party leaders should explain the sacrifices made by the Congress to give statehood to Telangana. “Sonia Gandhi gave statehood to Telangana in acknowledgement of the wishes of youth who were sacrificing their lives for the cause. Congress foresaw political losses in Andhra Pradesh if it gave statehood to Telangana but yet fulfilled the decades-old dream of the people of Telangana,” he said.

He called upon the party leaders to take up the social media campaign ‘

’. It is a nation-wide programme taken up on the directions of the All India Congress Committee.

Though 15 months have gone by after the first wave of pandemic in the state, the TRS government failed to improve the medical infrastructure to face the crisis. There was severe shortage for medicines, vaccines and beds though Hyderabad is considered to be the medical hub of the country, Uttam said.

In my parliamentary constituency (Nalgonda), I am told that Rs 20,000 to Rs 25,000 was charged by the private ambulances to transport Covid-19 patients to Hyderabad. There was no sign of the government ambulances. The private hospitals have been charging Rs 50,000 for each oxygen bed and Rs 1.50 lakh for ventilator bed per day for the Covid-19 patients, he alleged.

. It’s almost five months since chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao announced that Covid-19 treatment would be included in the Aarogyasri scheme but it has not been done till date.

“The state is getting ready to sell government lands worth Rs 50,000 crores. But I do not understand what has been holding the government back from bearing the cost of treatment to the poor,” Uttam said.
