cops arrested a former Naxalite
leader Kranthi
alias MariaKumari
in Guntur
on Tuesday and produced her before local court and took her to Orissa
on PT warrant. The city police was unaware of the arrest made by the Orissa
police. Kranthi, 32, left the Maoist armed struggle after taking permission from party leadership in 2010. A native of Nehrunagar in Guntur, Kranthi worked in the Peoples War Group later and the Maoist party in several capacities.
She was a close aide of top gun Akkiraju Haragopal alias Ramakrishna, general secretary of Andhra-Orissa Border Committee.
She was picked up in connection with some old cases.
